Composite Fillings
In our office, we use composite, or tooth-colored, fillings. We DO NOT use amalgam, also known as silver or mercury fillings. Amalgam contains 40-50% mercury, with the remainder being composed of copper, tin, silver, and sometimes other metals. It is a known fact that mercury is continuously leaking out of the filling and entering the blood stream. For this reason, we have chosen not to use this product and use composite instead. Studies from the American Dental Association have shown no health problems associated with Amalgam fillings.
Porcelain Inlays, Onlays & Crowns
Inlays, onlays, and crowns are restorations that are provided for severely damaged teeth. It is our philosophy to preserve as much tooth structure as possible with every restoration we provide. For this reason, we will attempt to provide an inlay or onlay before a full coverage crown. We will also attempt to provide you with an all-ceramic restoration over a metal-based product when possible.
Implants
When a tooth is lost, the surrounding teeth can drift, leading to bite problems, “TMJ”, difficulty chewing, and more. In the past, the only option for replacing a missing tooth was a bridge. Today, we are able to replace missing teeth utilizing dental implants. An implant is basically made up of two parts: a screw that is placed in the bone and acts like a root, and the tooth, which is built on top of the screw. An implant can replace one tooth, or all of your teeth. Implants can be fixed in your mouth, like natural teeth, or can be used under dentures and partials to make them more stable. For anyone missing a tooth, or multiple teeth, dental implants may be your best option. |
